FAQ

    Q. Do you accept insurance?

    A.  No, we do not accept insurance.  Here's why.  We do not want the insurance companies dictating the care that our patients can and cannot receive.  We firmly believe that each individual patient has specific needs, and what works for one person, may not work for another.  Also, because we do not accept insurance, we can offer discounts that could not be offered otherwise.  We strive to keep the value of care as affordable and accessible as possible.

    Q. What are the neurological scans?           

    A.  The neurological scans we utilize are by INSiGHT scanning technology, and they do just that.  They provide us with an invaluable "insight" or a picture into how your autonomic nervous system is currently functioning.  They greatly inform our recommendations for your personalized care.  They are non-invasive, painless, and do not produce radiation.  They are safe for newborns, pregnant mommas, and the entire family!

    Q. What do the scans do?

    A.  The heart rate variability scan, or HRV scan for short, measures the variations in your pulse, skin temperature, and skin conductance (arousal state).  Why is this important? The HRV scan gives us a picture of the balance to the Autonomic Nervous System (sympathetic and parasympathetic). If you are shifted to a sympathetic ("fight or flight") state or you are in a calm, relaxed, resting, digesting parasympathetic state, it will pick that up as well. The HRV scan also shows us what autonomic activity (reserve/battery life) your nervous system is currently running on. All of this information gives us a 30,000 foot perspective of the overall performance of your nervous system.

    B. The NeuroThermal scan, or thermography scan, is a high-tech thermometer that is rolled up your back to measure the temperature differences of the nerves as they exit the spinal cord. If there are nerves that are irritated or inflamed, they will give off a higher heat signature, which this scan will pick up on. In addition to comparing the nerves side to side, this scan is also measuring the temperature difference from the bottom of your spine to the top. The temperature should be cooler at the bottom and warmer as it gets closer to the brainstem, which is where all the metabolic activity occurs.

    C. The surface electromyograph (surface EMG) measures the electrical energy that is coming off of the neuromuscular system. There is a normalcy to how individuals should resist gravity in an upright seated position. This scan picks up areas of excess tone/tension and/or areas of exhaustion in your neuromuscular system. 

    Q. What does a new patient consultation look like?

    A.  When you first arrive, you'll be greeted by one of our staff members who will give you a short office tour to familiarize you with our environment.  If all of your paperwork has been submitted via our secure online portal, you will be seated in our scan room to meet with Dr. Brandon.  You will discuss your medical history and goals for care with Dr. Brandon, and he will run the three different neurological scans.  With our infant new patients, Dr. Brandon will perform an infant exam in addition to the medical history, goals for care, and neurological scans.  During your consultation, you will have time to ask any questions you may have about the scans, care, etc.  After your consultation with Dr. Brandon, you'll head to the front desk to schedule your complimentary follow-up appointment and render payment for the consultation.  Our new patient consultations last for approximately 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours.  Typically, Dr. Brandon does not adjust on the first visit; however, that decision is made on a case-by-case basis based on his clinical findings and discussion with you in your consultation.

    Q. What is covered in the complimentary follow-up appointment?

    A.  At your 30 minute follow-up appointment, Dr. Brandon will explain your scan results, answer any of your questions, and discuss his recommendations for care (restoration care plan).  After meeting with Dr. Brandon, the office manager, Breann, will meet with you to discuss the financials and options of the restoration care plan and answer any questions you may have.  You will receive your first adjustment after initiating care.  Once your adjustment is complete, you will render payment for the restoration care plan.  Welcome to the Cherish Family Chiropractic family!
